FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (KLTV) - Authorities in South Carolina say they have arrested a couple linked to the murder of a Fort Worth businessman, whose body was found in East Texas and a Shreveport, LA Lake.

Monday night, Brandon Daniels, 30, and Damonica Evans, 25, were booked into the Florence County, SC jail on a capital murder charge.

The victim, 54-year-old Marion Lee Brown, was last seen in Parker County, Texas, in May. Partial remains of his body and his burned car were found later in Smith County, near Tyler. One day later, authorities in Shreveport, LA pulled his body from Cross Lake.

According to the United States Marshals Office, it is alleged that Daniels and Evans would post online escort ads on Backpage.com and when individuals contacted them they would be directed to Daniels’ address in Texas.  Once they arrived, Evans, who police believe is Daniels'' girlfriend, would let them inside and Daniels would rob them. Daniels and Evans tried to rob the victim and according to statements, a shotgun went off striking the victim in the head and killing him.  According to law enforcement, Daniels and Evans drove the victim to Louisiana and dumped his body into a lake.  Daniels and Evans fled by bus to Atlanta, GA and the trail went cold.

Investigators learned that Daniels has relatives in Florence and set up surveillance of an apartment complex. According to U.S. Marshals, Daniels was tipped off and Evans dropped him off at an abandoned gas station nearby, prior to her arrest. "Operation Intercept" investigators and the Florence County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and bloodhound dog teams, along with numerous other sheriff’s deputies and Francis Marion University Police, flushed Daniels out of the woods behind the apartments and took him into custody.

They also say that indications are that the couple fled the scene after the murder, then returned and attempted to clean up the murder scene.

Officers do not believe that any additional arrests related to the homicide of Marion Brown will be made, but if additional victims of the suspects' escort service are found to have been robbed by the pair, more arrest warrants could be issued.

In addition to the murder case, Daniels and Evans are also being held on aggravated robbery warrants while they await extradition to Texas.
