Officer Cody Jackson was on his way to assist with the pursuit when he was involved in a two-vehicle accident. Although Jackson wasn't injured in the wreck, Adrianna Morales, 16, a passenger in the other vehicle complained of back and neck pain and was transported to Lufkin's Memorial Hospital.

The accident was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the wreck is still under investigation.

The preliminary accident investigation revealed that Jackson wast headed west on Atkinson Drive with his patrol vehicle's lights and siren activated, a press release stated. Valerie Ramos, 17, was traveling south on Timberland Drive in a 2012 Dodge pickup, and the two vehicles collided in the intersection.

Sgt. David Casper, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department, said the subject of the pursuit was caught later Tuesday evening. Erick Lopez, 28, of Lufkin was arrested on Scarborough Street after he ran from the LPD officer who attempted to make a traffic stop on his vehicle.

Lopez is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a state-jail felony charge of evading arrest in a vehicle with a previous conviction. No bail has been set at this time.
