ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A three-vehicle accident near the intersection of State Highway 103 West and FM 706 resulted in one person being sent to a Lufkin hospital for treatment of his injuries Wednesday afternoon.
The accident occurred According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper David Flowers, W.F. Maddox, of Lufkin, was driving a blue GMC pickup on FM 706 when he ran the stop sign at the intersection and struck a White Jeep Liberty that was traveling west on Highway 103.
The Liberty then spun out of control and hit a gray Jeep Wrangler that was stopped in the left-turn lane.
None of the occupants of the two Jeeps were injured in the accident. A witness at the scene said Maddox was unconscious when he was transported to Lufkin's Memorial Hospital.
Flowers said there was an open alcoholic beverage in Maddox's. Maddox will be cited with failure to stop at a stop sign, and more charges could be pending.
