LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) -

Livingston police say an elderly man has killed his wife and himself in an apparent murder/suicide at a health care facility Thursday morning.

According to a press release, Horris Jackson, 82, went to Pine Ridge Health Care, located at 1620 US 59 North and shot his wife with a handgun found at the scene before turning the gun on himself around 9:17 a.m.

Investigators are still looking for clues as to the motive of the crime, but add that the details of the event have shocked the community.

"I've been here going on 20 years now and this is the first episode that I've sen to this magnitude in a health care facility involving a patient and a spouse," said Detective Leon Middleton with the Livingston Police Department. "So, I'm not sure what could've been done differently. I just think it was something that was probably thought about and it just took place today."

Police say there is no known motive at this time.

Nobody else was injured.
