LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Angelina county students still have a couple of months before they hit the books, but that's not stopping the Junior League of Lufkin from getting ready for it.
The group is preparing for their annual back to school bonanza in August and they need help getting donations.
Organizers say it is important since 57 % of Angelina County students are considered to be living in poverty conditions.
"It gives the community a chance to come together who wouldn't have things needed for school," said event coordinator Tonja Childers. "We provide haircuts, dental screenings, and hearing screenings"
The donations can be dropped off until July 28 at KSWP Radio, The Angelina County/Lufkin Chamber of Commerce, AAA Trophy or Real Graphics.
