POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Texas Department of Public Safety has made a child sex trafficking arrest connected to Polk County.

Ledys Alvarenga was arrested in Pennsylvania earlier this week and was transported to the Polk County jail early Friday morning.

Alvarenga was charged with trafficking a child/sexual conduct.

According to the Texas penal code, trafficking a person is when someone knowingly traffics another person with the intent that the person engages in forced labor or services. It also states that trafficking a person means the suspect trafficked another person and through force and coercion caused the trafficked person to engage in conduct.

The Polk County District Attorney's Office wouldn't release any information due to the sensitivity of the case.

KTRE did put in an open records request to the DA's office.

It is not yet known how Alvarenga is linked to Polk County.

Alvarenga is currently sitting in the Polk County jail with a $150,000 bond.
