TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Two Trinity County men are behind bars after burglarizing three storage units in Trinity County.
James Emmons, 45, is charged with three felony counts of burglary of a building, and Paul Jones, 42, is charged with felony burglary of a building.
Emmons and Jones were arrested Tuesday.
According to Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace, Emmons and Jones confessed to burglarizing three storage units in the FM 356 and 356 Marina area in Trinity County.
Emmons just got out of prison about three months ago for burglarizing the same storage units two years ago, Wallace said.
Wallace said because of surveillance video, they were able to catch the two men cutting locks on the units.
Deputy Sikes, with the Trinity County Sheriff's Office, was patrolling on Tuesday when he recognized the truck, which belongs to Emmons, from the surveillance video.
Sikes pulled Emmons over and questioned him about the burglary and showed him the surveillance video. When Emmons was asked if that was him, Emmons responded, "Yes, that is me and Paul," according to Wallace.
When Wallace went to Jones' residence to ask him about the stolen items from the storage unit, the suspect denied it, but once Jones realized they had him on surveillance video, he confessed.
Jones also admitted that most of the stolen items were in his garage, Wallace said
. He adds that they discovered Jones burning victims pictures near the back of the house.
The sheriff's office searched his house and found small amounts of methamphetamine and packaging. They also found a stolen 4-wheeler on the property.
The two men also confessed to burglarizing storage units in San Jacinto County.
Wallace said additional charges are pending.
