NEWTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Newton County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man late Thursday night after he allegedly shot another man in the head. The victim died of complications related to his gunshot wound early Friday morning.
Timothy Jeane was originally charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the Newton County Jail. The charge was upgraded to murder Friday morning.
According to a press release, NCSO deputies responded to the Pine Grove community in reference to a shooting at approximately 11 p.m. Thursday.
The victim, who was identified as Darren Jenkins, was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. According to the press release, the Newton County Sheriff's Office was notified around 6:20 a.m. Friday morning that Jenkins had died of complications related to his injury.
No other information was available as of 11:30 a.m. Friday.
