NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches Police officer who responded to a 911 call about a reckless driver arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly driving drunk with a child under the age of 14 in the vehicle with him late Monday night.
Juan Garcia, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a state-jail felony charge of driving while intoxicated with a child and a Class B misdemeanor charge of failure to identify. No bail amount has been set at this time.
According to the incident report, at approximately 11 p.m. Monday night, an NPD officer was dispatched out in reference to a reckless driver in the 1500 block of North Street. When the officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Garcia allegedly displayed signs of possible intoxication.
After Garcia failed a field sobriety test, the Nacogdoches Police officer took him into custody for driving drunk with a child under the age of 14 in the car, according to the incident report.
The officer learned after the arrest that Garcia had given him a false identity.
