In October, the Angelina County Courthouse will receive a technology upgrade.
They will be switching to a new state mandated e-filing system.
To get the ball rolling Tuesday, Angelina County Commissioners approved a county contract with Tyler Technologies. The company will manage credit card payments for the e-filing system. The system will allow attorneys to file civil matters electronically. Payments for the files will be made online. Angelina County Clerk Amy Fincher said the processing fee will be a little over two percent, but the county will not be charged.
"Hopefully, this will begin to where we don't have to have paper files. So everything will be through the computer," Fincher said. "The judges will have everything on the computer, so there won't have to be so many papers printed out and put into a file."
The Texas Supreme Court has mandated the change to take place no later than July of 2015.
