The Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce is now using social media to spread the word about supporting local businesses .Typically, the organization sends out their Shop Nac First PSA campaign via the mail, but this year, they decided to spice things up. About six weeks ago, they came up with a game that utilized bumper stickers and social media. Organizer Bruce Partain said it’s a different approach which he feels made a statement.
“The game caught people’s attention by encouraging people to participate,” Partain said
Partain said they rewarded participants with a variety of prizes. Wes Jensen was one of 10 people reward for participating.
"We just took picture of stickers on the backs of vehicles then hashtagged Shop Nac First and posted them on Facebook, and it was fun," Jensen said.
Jensen received two oil changes. He added that he could definitely use them.Partain said the goal behind this particular idea was to target a younger audience, and it’s just one of many campaigns they plan to set out in the next couple of months.
