Posted: Updated:
CENTER, TX (KTRE) - With hot temperatures coming To Deep East Texas this weekend, some watermelon will help East Texans of all ages cool off. The 25th annual What-a Melon festival will kick off in center Thursday night.

Crews and organizers spent the morning Wednesday setting up for all the exciting rides and delicious foods that will be served. Organizers say that what makes the event stand out is that all the money raised will stay in the community and go to help out non-profits in need.

"Every bit of the money that rotary raises will be donated back into the local community, whether it be through scouting, CASA or in scholarships, everything we have goes back into the community,” Misty Wilburn said.
