LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A woman failed to yield at an intersection suffered minor injuries after an oncoming van hit her car and flipped it on its side on Kurth Drive Thursday afternoon.

According to Sgt. David Walker, the woman was turning off of Martin Luther King Boulevard to go north on Kurth Drive but ran the red light and was hit by a van which pushed the 2006 Ford Focus on its side.

The woman, 18 year-old Olivia Brown, was taken to a Lufkin hospital with minor injuries. Police say she will be cited for failure to yield.

The driver of the van, Larry Wofford, 61, of Lufkin, was not injured.
