Nonprofit organization challenges others to serve their communities and the world.

(PRWEB) July 11, 2014

Pearls with Purpose, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping impoverished women gain self-reliance, is promoting their Pledge Program. The Pledge was designed to encourage community service and engagement for all ages.

The program was launched two years ago in Chicago, IL at the Points of Light conference. Each participant purchases a Pledge Necklace, which serves as a reminder of the commitment they have made to serve others and the world. After an individual has their necklace, they can register their name on the Pearls with Purpose Wall of Fame. They can also submit their stories of service on the Pearls with Purpose website. Every month we feature a Pledge story in our newsletter and on our blog. Since we are promoting the Pledge program this month, we are featuring one every week, says Kaylyn Laws, Pearls with Purposes Marketing Director.

Pearls with Purpose has always committed to serving others. The Pledge was a way to encourage others to serve. Julie Orrock, Director of Operations and one of the spear-heads behind the Pledge program, says this about its origins, We knew that it would take many, many supporters to reach the critical mass needed to truly make a difference in the world. [Two years ago] I was just starting the book Brains on Fire by Robin Phillips, Greg Cordell, Geno Church, and Spike Jones. In the intro a passage stuck out, A movement elevates and empowers people to unite a community around a common cause, passion, company, brand, or organization. I realized we needed, the world needed, a movement. This was the start of what has grown into our Pledge Program.
