Ossian, IN (PRWEB) July 11, 2014

WISPAPALOOZA, an annual conference and tradeshow dedicated to the Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) industry, today announced that FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai will keynote at the WISPAPALOOZA 2014 conference Annual Awards Banquet on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. The conference will be held from Saturday, October 11 18, 2014 at the South Point Hotel and Conference Center in Las Vegas. The Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA) is the host of WISPAPALOOZA 2014.

In connection with the 10th anniversary of WISPAs founding, Commissioner Pai will speak about the important role that WISPs play in expanding Internet access to all Americans. Commissioner Pai will also discuss how WISPs help to spur economic growth and job creation, particularly in rural America, and what the FCC can do to create a regulatory environment in which WISPs can thrive. Im extremely grateful for the chance to speak at WISPAPALOOZA this year, said Commissioner Pai. I have a lot of respect for the entrepreneurial spirit of the WISP industry and am looking forward to meeting attendees, learning more about the industry, and sharing my views.

We are gratified to have Commissioner Pai keynote at our event this year. He has been a terrific supporter of unlicensed spectrum and has a keen sense of how spectrum can enable jobs, innovation and educational opportunities, said WISPA Board Member Elizabeth Bowles. Commissioner Pais Keynote will be a great topic of discussion as WISPA celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Commissioner Pai joined the FCC in May 2012 and is focused on creating a regulatory environment in which competition and innovation will flourish, to the benefit of American consumers. He believes that the FCC should give the private sector the strongest incentive to raise and invest capital, to develop new products and services, and to compete in established and new markets.

Prior to joining the FCC, Commissioner Pai worked at a telecommunications company, at a law firm, and in all three branches of the federal government. He also held several positions in the FCC's Office of General Counsel, serving most prominently as Deputy General Counsel. In that role, he handled a wide variety of regulatory and transactional matters involving the wireless, wireline, cable, Internet, media, and satellite industries.

Commissioner Pai holds a law degree from the University of Chicago, where he was an editor of the University of Chicago Law Review and won the Thomas R. Mulroy Prize. He also earned a bachelors degree with honors from Harvard University.

Commissioner Pai grew up in Parsons, Kansas (2010 population: 11,514), which is approximately 150 miles south of Kansas City. His parents moved there in 1977 and still work at the local hospital. Their Internet service provider is Wave Wireless, a southeast Kansas-based WISP.
