HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A one-vehicle accident in Houston County claimed the life of a 63-year-old Grapeland woman Thursday morning.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety report, the accident occurred at approximately 11:55 a.m. Thursday eight to 10 miles east of Grapeland on FM 228. A 2010 Chevrolet HHR driven by Ginger Baggett Teems was heading east on FM 228 when it left the road in a curve and struck some trees.

The DPS report stated that Teems was not wearing her seat belt when the accident occurred.

Teems was taken to a nearby church parking lot, so she could be airlifted to a hospital. However, she died before that could happen. Houston County Justice of the Peace Ronnie Jordan pronounced Teems dead at 1 p.m. Thursday.
