The jury trial for a 33-year-old Huntington man who is accused molesting a young girl at least 10 times over the course of a several-month period started Monday.

Scott Charles Riley was arrested and charged with continuous sex abuse of a child under 14 in March 2013 for allegedly molesting a young girl on multiple occasions. Riley’s trial is being held in Judge Paul White’s 159th Judicial District Court.

According to a previous story, Riley posted his $50,000 bail and was released from the Angelina County Jail one day after his arrest.

Riley pleaded not guilty to the charges read to him by the state.

The state called the victim as their first witness in this case.

The victim said she would see the defendant about two or three times a month. She said she is here because the defendant molested her.

The victim said she decided to tell her mom because she was afraid to see the defendant. She said her mother started crying when she said she had been molested. The state asked the victim on a scale of one to 10 of how hard it was to tell her mom what had been going on, and she said it was a 10.

She said she felt she had to tell because she didn’t want her baby sister to ever have to go through what she was going through.

The victim said she was asleep in the defendant’s RV, and she woke up to find the defendant was doing inappropriate things to her.

She said she asked him to stop, and he asked her why. Then she left the room. She said he acted like he was confused by why she had said to stop.

She said that night she was very confused and shocked by what the defendant did.

The victim recalled one of the many times when the defendant touched her inappropriately. She described a time when she was wearing a bathing suit because she was getting ready to go to a water park, and the defendant pushed her down on the bed and removed her bathing suit bottoms. She said it went on for about two or three minutes. Then she would push him away, and then he would apologize and promise that he would never do it again.

She said whenever he would molest her he would apologize and say he would never do it again and would say it was because he didn’t have a girlfriend.

The victim said one time the defendant tried to sexually assault her. She said she was watching TV, and he came up to her in a towel. She said she put her feet up against him to push him away because it hurt.
