ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Lufkin man who worked at the State Supported Living Center in Pollok and is accused of striking a client in the face.

Bradley Wayne Fondren, 24, is charged with third-degree injury to disabled.

According to an arrest affidavit, deputies were contacted on June 26 to come to the facility, located at 6844 US 69 North, in reference to an assault between employee and client.

A deputy read a statement from a direct support professional who was supervising a client who lived adjacent to the victim's room. The worker stated she heard Fondren speaking with the 66-year-old client in an "unprofessional manner." She stated she walked to the front door and saw Fondren strike the man in the face three times with a closed fist.

The deputy reviewed surveillance video, which showed the worker go to the front door before running down the hallway to report what she had seen.

In another written statement, Fondren said he had gone with the victim to his room and the victim stumbled, causing him to strike the rubber tires from the wheelchair.

The affidavit states a nurse for the facility said the injuries were not consistent with Fondren's statement.

A warrant for Fondren's arrest was obtained on July 14. He was booked in the jail on Tuesday and posted a $3,500 bond.
