LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - East Texas residents will not have to wait long to get some home-style cooked food from one of the nation's favorite dinner chains.
Lufkin officials have confirmed that Cracker Barrel will be open in three to four months.
"Their representatives have told us early November is when they plan on opening," said Inspections Director Dale Allred. "This is their timetable not ours."
On May 9, City Manager Paul Parker confirmed that the chain had been approved for a building permit.
In late May, crews started clearing land for the restaurant that will be located at the intersection of Whitehouse and Daniel McCall near Burger King and Taco Bueno.
On May 7, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store was named to "Forbes" magazine's 100 Most Trustworthy Companies list. The company has more than 600 stores in 42 states, and the first Cracker Barrel Country Store opened in Lebanon, Tennessee in 1969, according to the company's Website.
