LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The rain didn't keep Lufkin romantics from steering clear of Downtown Date Night on Thursday.
Packed up tightly in the downtown event space, Abrams, couples of all ages danced, laughed and had a good old time to three country crooners.
Former American Idol hopeful Kree Harrison, a Woodville native, took to the stage alongside Lufkin native and former America's Got Talent contestant Dave Fenley. The duo were joined by a third party, Brent Tyler, a country crooner from Calgary, a city in the province of Alberta, Canada.
The three musicians sang their hearts out to original tunes, and cover songs. The event was hosted by Journey Magazine. Stephanie Oliver, the owner and editor of the magazine, said they sold about 200 tickets for the event.
Downtown Date Night usually takes place every Thursday of every month.
The event was sponsored by Hunt Stone & Fireplace, Lufkin Coca-Cola, TJ Mag & Co, CBTx, Mike Love & Associates, and the law office of Lisa G. Flournoy.
The event also has food, carriage rides, a photo booth and downtown shopping available.
