LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin couple is behind bars after they lead police on a short chase while allegedly being intoxicated.

Sgt. Rodney Squyres said Friday night, dispatch received a call stating that 29 year-old Daniel Lopez and 21 year-old Teresa Lopez could be seen operating a vehicle while they appeared to be drinking alcohol in the 2400 block of N.Timberland drive. Squyers also said that the caller stated there was a child in the car with the two.

“Officers located the vehicle and attempted to make stop, but driver refused to stop, instead turning into an open field,” Squyers said. “Officers eventually stopped vehicle and found alcoholic beverages and four adults but no children in the vehicle.”
