NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches park is back in shape after people of all ages turned their morning into a cleanup day.
The Nacogodoches Parks Advocacy League hosted it's family fun day today at Pecan Park Saturday morning.
The group spent the morning picking up trash, and then enjoyed a day of fun activities in the park.
Organizers say they want events like this to promote community service and show residents anyone can help.
"We are a group of moms," Mary Turner said. "We do most of our planning in a few meetings a month that are an hour long. We do most of planning on facebook and by text messages so we are so glad that this event went so well."
The group says their ultimate goal is to raise $10,000 by the end of the year. That money will be used for future improvements to all Nacogdoches parks.
