(CNN) – The Federal Aviation Administration has informed U.S. airlines they are prohibited from flying in and out of Israel's Ben Gurion Airport after a rocket landed within a mile of the facility.

The ban is in place for 24 hours.

Earlier on Tuesday, several U.S. airlines canceled flights to Tel Aviv Israel due to security concerns.

Delta Air Lines says Flight 468, a Boeing 747 from, New York’s JFK Airport, with 273 passengers and 17 crew members was diverted to Paris on Tuesday after reports of rocket fire near the airport in Tel Aviv.

According to Israel media, the large rocket caused considerable damage to a house near the airport, but no causalities.

Delta was the first airlines to suspend service until further notice to and from Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv and its New York JFK hub.

Many airline companies are working closely with U.S. and other government resources to monitor the situation.

The 24-hour suspension is a result of the conflict between Israel and militants in Gaza - particularly Hamas. Rockets have been fired back and forth, and Israel launched a ground invasion on July 17.
