LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Lufkin Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a 16-year-old girl who ran away from her grandmother’s home on July 16.

“[Chantavia] Rodgers was last seen leaving her grandmother’s home in Lufkin of her own free will,” said Sgt. David Casper, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department.

Tammy McKelvey, Chantavia’ Rodgers’ mother, told the East Texas News that police told her an Amber Alert cannot be issued for her daughter because authorities don’t believe the girl is in any kind of danger.

“I would like to get my story out to the public to bring my daughter home safe,” McKelvey said.

Rodgers is 5-foot-9 and weighs approximately 170 pounds. She has dark brown hair.

Anyone with any information about Rodgers’ whereabouts is urged to call the Lufkin Police Department at (936) 633-0356.
