SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A 22-year-old woman found herself behind bars, even though it was her boyfriend she was trying to turn him in for assault Tuesday night in San Augustine County.

San Augustine County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham said deputies were called out to a home and found Malissia Stanton, of Orange, asleep in her bed. Cunningham said he woke her up and she did not claim to call 911. Cunningham said he talked to her further and she, being drunk, finally admitted to calling and said a person she vaguely knew assaulted her.

Cunningham said they went to talk to the person "she vaguely knew," who was a 16-year-old boy. The boy said that he was involved in a sexual relationship with Stanton and that she also assaulted him. Cunningham said he had injuries consistent with assault, so they arrested Stanton.

Cunningham said they let Stanton know of her charges for misdemeanor A assault and second-degree sexual assault of a child. He said Stanton said the boy had been burglarizing property.

"So we went back to the boy, and he admitted doing it," Cunningham said. "But he said she was with him when he did it and in fact told him what to take because she could sell it with her ID."

Cunningham said they then attached two charges of second-degree burglary to Stanton and they sent the boy to juvenile probation in Lufkin.
