Crowd-sourced user data allows Telefónica UK to monitor and address QoS issues in real time
GLASGOW, Scotland and GUILDFORD, England, August 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
SpatialBuzz, an innovative cloud-based customer experience analytics and service monitoring platform for network operators, has announced that mobile operator Telefónica UK is using SpatialBuzz's crowd-sourced analytics expertise to improve service experience for its customers during the Commonwealth Games, currently taking place in Glasgow, Scotland.
The Special Event Monitoring tool in SpatialBuzz HDAnalytics has already been proven during the recent Tour de France stages in Yorkshire, which attracted an estimated 2.5 million spectators. Telefónica UK is now building on this experience to enable it to optimally manage the network during Glasgow 2014.
"The Telefónica live network status checker, powered by SpatialBuzz, allows customers to check the network status wherever they are - at home, work, or play," said Andrew Blake, CTO of SpatialBuzz. "This information is processed by SpatialBuzz's crowd-sourced HDAnalytics function to provide Telefónica's Service Experience Management and Network Operations Centres with access to the most accurate and comprehensive view available of real-time network health and customer experience."
Paul Pattinson, Head of Service Experience Management at Telefónica UK, said, "Customer demand for mobile services has never been greater. In the first six months of our 4G network, our 4G customers used more data than the entire O2 network carried between 2000 and 2008, demonstrating the unprecedented demand for fast and seamless data services."
The intelligence provided by the SpatialBuzz system allows Telefónica engineers to rapidly focus on geographical areas where problems are starting to develop, and to focus their resources onto mitigating any shortfall by adjusting network parameters to meet the demand.
