TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Searchers found the body of a missing Houston man in the Trinity River Thursday morning.

The discovery came not long after Trinity County authorities started the second day of the ongoing search for a man they believe jumped off the river bridge on State Highway 19 in suicide attempt, according to Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace.

Trinity County Sheriff’s deputies, Texas Department of Public Safety divers, and Texas Parks & Wildlife game wardens all took part in the search. On Wednesday, Wallace said they called in a DPS dive team because the sonar images from the river revealed some images out of the ordinary.

Wallace said a Houston woman told them that after she got into an argument with her husband Tuesday night, he took off. His car was found on the Trinity River bridge on Highway 19 Wednesday morning.

Blood was found all over the interior of the car, Wallace said. In addition, a blood trial led from the car to the bridge and over the side.

Wallace said even though, based on the evidence, it looked as though someone slit his or her wrists inside the car, Trinity County authorities are treating the incident as a possible homicide.

When Trinity County authorities resumed the search for a missing Houston man Thursday morning, they also found two vehicles and a trailer in the Trinity River.

Wallace said that the team of Texas Department of Public Safety divers searching the river will pull them out of the river and check to see if they are stolen.
