ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper arrested a 41-year-old Lufkin man for driving while intoxicated with three kids under the age of 15 in the car after the man was stopped for a traffic violation on State Highway 103 East late Thursday night.

Juan Angel Garcia is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a state-jail felony DWI with a child under the age of 15 in the car. No bail has been set at this time.

According to a press release, a DPS trooper stopped a green Ford F-150 pickup on SH 013 East for a traffic violation at approximately 10:45 p.m. Thursday. When the trooper made contact with Garcia, the driver of the vehicle, he allegedly could smell the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle.

Garcia performed poorly on a field sobriety test, and he was arrested at the scene. The two 10-year-old boys and one 9-year-old boy in the truck with him were released into family members' custody.

The press release stated that Garcia was transported to Lufkin's Memorial Hospital, where a blood-alcohol sample was obtained. He was then taken to the Angelina County Jail.
