GROVETON, TX (KTRE) - An East Texas woman was surrounded by family and friends on Saturday as she celebrated her 104th birthday.

Ann Mcaulty has been through a lot in her life time, but on her 104th birthday she couldn't be any better.

"Well you know I feel pretty good,” said Birthday Girl, Ann Mcaulty.

Mcaulty was born on August 10th, 1910 in Cut and Shoot, Texas. She moved from Cut and Shoot to Baytown where she met her husband.

Soon after she got married Mcaulty had two daughters and moved to Channel View where she spent the majority of her life. She moved to Groveton 4 years ago to live with her daughters, who to this day still stand right by her side.

“I feel so blessed, so many people don't have their parents and we still have her and can still love on her and kiss her,” Mcaulty’s daughter said.

Her daughters say even though her age has changed her personality hasn't.

"She loves to go shopping and she has to have her hair fixed every time. Every morning you have to fix that hair and put makeup on her," Mcaulty’s daughter said

However, her family says it not the hair and makeup that keep her looking and feeling young; it's her healthy eating habits and active life style.

"When we were little girls she would throw the jump rope for us and she was outside playing and she would ride the bicycle with us and we just grew up together," Mcaulty’s daughter said.

Mcaulty says, for her, the secret to living a long life is the love she has for God and her family.

The Community Food Drive in Lufkin is special to some because of the large amount of people it brings together from all walks of life.  "It's just like so many different people, very diverse," said volunteer, Priscilla Gonzalez. "It's just kind of cool to see all these people coming together to do one thing." For others, like Keith Kennedy, it's all about the service being provided to the greater community. "They're in miracle territory,...More >>
