LUFKIN, TX (News Release) - Crime Stoppers wants your help identifying the driver in a hit and run accident that left a Lufkin teen hospitalized.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, July 13, an unidentified driver ran his vehicle into a 17-year-old on a bicycle.

The victim and two friends were riding their bicycles southbound on South Timberland Drive in Lufkin when a truck struck the victim from behind. The impact threw the victim onto the asphalt, and the truck traveled a short distance pushing the victim's bicycle. The witnesses watched as their friend tumbled along the roadway and the truck slowed down briefly before continuing south on Timberland Drive. One witness hit the passenger window of the truck in an attempt to get the driver to stop but the truck turned left onto East Denman Avenue and then disappeared from sight; it was last seen on Denman Avenue headed toward South First Street.

The witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a white-in-color Toyota truck, possibly a four-door, and described the driver and front seat passenger as Hispanic males. They stated that the passenger appeared to have been asleep at the time of the crash.

At the scene of the crash, the investigating police officers found white paint chips, a Toyota front grill emblem, and the truck's passenger side headlamp assembly. Based upon the debris and witness statements, the officers believe that the suspect vehicle is a 2003 to 2004 year model Toyota Tundra, white-in-color.

If you can identify the driver of the suspect vehicle or know the current location of the vehicle, call Crime Stoppers of Lufkin at (936) 639-TIPS or submit a tip at All calls and tips are anonymous and Crime Stoppers may pay a reward if the information you provide leads to an arrest related to this crime.
