Denman Avenue Baptist hosting free viewing of 'God's Not Dead'

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Despite not having the backing of any major motion picture company, the faith-based movie 'God's not Dead' became one of the most talked about films of 2014.

The movie was recently released on DVD and Blu ray, but one East Texas church is giving people one more chance to see it on the big screen.

Denman Avenue Baptist in Lufkin is hosting three free showings of the movie this coming weekend at the Pines Theater in downtown Lufkin. The best part about the showings is that they are free.

"We had a big response to the announcement," Associate Pastor Kevin Roy said. "We have already given away all of our tickets to the night shows, so we had to add a Sunday afternoon show. We have over 400 tickets for that show and they are all free."

People interested in picking up tickets for the 2:30 p.m. show on Sunday need to go by the church office in the day. The office is located at 1807 E. Denman Ave. The office is opened from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. On Friday, the office is opened from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Roy added that there may be a limited amount of walk-up tickets available for the Saturday and Sunday night shows.
