LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A 34-year-old Lufkin accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl in 2003 man surrendered himself to authorities in the lobby of the Angelina County Sheriff's Office Wednesday morning.
An Angelina County grand jury indicted Robert Whitten Haak on two felony charges back in June. He was booked into the Angelina County Jail on two felony charges - sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact.
Haak was released from the jail later Wednesday after he posted a collective bail of $50,000.
According to the indictment, Haak is accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 17 on May 10, 2003.
Whitten was arrested on another sexual assault of a child charge in 2003. That charge was dismissed on May 11, 2004.
