Angelina Art Alliance holds auditions for 2014 Nutcracker

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Angelina Arts Alliance is giving local kids a once in a lifetime time opportunity to perform with an international ballet company.

The art alliance, along with the Meja International Ballet Company, are looking for 80 girls and boys ages 5 to 17 to perform in this year's, "Nutcracker Ballet."

Those who make it through the audition round will get to perform on the Temple Theater stage alongside professional dancers.

“You know we don't have professional ballet companies here very often that will incorporate the community, so yeah it is a great opportunity,” said Angelina Arts Alliance Executive Director, Tracy Pinkerton.

“It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing to dance with a big professional ballet company, and the 'Nutcracker' is one of the most famous ballets there are,” Pinkerton said.

The auditions will be held at the Academy of Gymnastics and Dance in Lufkin on Sunday, August 17th from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Girls (basic dance/ ballet required), age 5-7 will audition at 3:00 p.m.

Girls (ballet/ pointe required), age 9-12 will audition at 3:45 p.m.

Girls (basic dance/ ballet required), age 8-13 will audition at 4:30 p.m.

Dancers (ballet/ pointe/ modern required), age 13-17 will audition at 5:00 p.m.

Boys (basic dance/ ballet required), age 8-12 will audition at 5:30 p.m.
