ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Recently the FDA made a nationwide recall on White and Blue Lion tattoo ink. They say it's due to a pathogenic bacterial contamination within the ink. One person has already suffered a skin infection from its use.

This bacteria can be very dangerous if it is released into your bloodstream. It can affect certain organs, which can be life-threatening.

White and Blue Lion ink is a California based company. They sell ink, needles, and kits, usually for those wishing to tattoo at home. Consumers can find their products online.

Albany tattoo artist Wesley Williams says the artist who does a tattoo is important. If the work is cheap, he says the quality of an artist's products will be as well, which can lead to infections.

He says at his shop, Tattoo Adikshun, they purchase their inks directly from a company called Eternal, and not a third party website.

He says with a quality source, you have a better chance of getting quality products, and those companies usually back their inks up.

Any time you are dealing with a new company or a company you are not familiar with, check on them, says Williams, and ask the tattoo artist if you can take a look at the ink bottle.

Anyone who recently purchased White and Blue Lion products is urged to return them immediately. They are usually packaged with a colorful dragon on the front, but some may not have information labeled properly.

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
