NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the name of the driver who allegedly crashed his pickup into a tree after he fled from a DPS officer who attempted to make a traffic stop on his vehicle Wednesday afternoon.
Trooper David Hendry, a DPS spokesman, said after Jeremie Glen Tennison, 27, of Cushing, fled the scene, the DPS trooper fire a shot from his sidearm in an attempt to disable Tennison's pickup.
The DPS trooper got back into his patrol unit, and a pursuit ensued after that attempt failed. However, the DPS trooper lost sight of Tennison's pickup. A short time later, a Nacogdoches County deputy constable found the truck crashed into a tree on County Road 874.
The pickup caught on fire, and emergency personnel pulled Tennison and his passenger out of the vehicle. They were taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The driver is facing a felony offense of evading law enforcement in a motor vehicle, Hendry said in a previous East Texas News story.
The incident remains under investigation.
