LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Monday, the Moffett Volunteer Fire Department purchased a 1988 Aerial Ladder Truck. The truck is equipped with a 55 foot tall ladder. It also seats five men and carries 350 gallons of water. Fire Chief Joey Rocka said the truck might have a couple of miles on it, but the department is confident it will help them better serve the community.

"A lot of houses being built now have higher pitched roofs, and some are maybe even two stories high,” Rocka said. The industrial side of it will help us fight fires and get it under control before we actually have to send men in."

The truck comes from Pennsylvania.

The original asking price for the truck was $70,000 but the Pennsylvania fire station helped the guys out, and sold them the truck for just $10,000.
