NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches got to experience a little piece of the Houston Texans organization when Texans president Jamey Rootes came to town.
Rootes was the guest speaker at Wednesday's Nacogdoches Rotary Club meeting.
The talk was everything sports related, but it was hard to ignore the Oakland Raiders potential move to San Antonio and how that would impact the Texans organization.
Is the move to San Antonio realistic? Rootes said he didn't know, but there are a lot of things he said you have to consider.
"The things you have to look at is the corporate support. Is it there to be able to support an NFL team to provide the financial resources to be competitive," said Rootes. "You've also got two NFL teams that are geographically proximate that are also working hard to gain that level of support. You also have the San Antonio Spurs who've done such a great job building support. Someone's going to have to do the research to decide whether it could or couldn't happen."
The Raiders are also looking at possibly calling Los Angeles, California their home.
In order to move though, they would need 24 of the 32 NFL owners to approve with a vote.
