ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for a suspect accused of dumping a barrel full of hog parts at the beginning of August.

The container was found in Biloxi Creek of Old Homer Alto Road in Huntington after a man called law enforcement reporting a foul odor coming from the water.

Cody Glen Dew, 31, of Lufkin is charged with state jail felony illegal dumping.

Captain Alton Lenderman with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office says this dumping case is interesting because typically illegal dumping is a misdemeanor but in this instance it was bumped up to a state jail felony because the hog parts were in a closed container which poses a greater health hazard.

Dew has not been arrested yet but he is expected to turn himself into the sheriff's office Friday with his attorney.

Lenderman said that the barrel of hog parts created quite a stir. Sheriff's deputies, game wardens and the Texas Rangers were all called in on this case and spent 24 man hours and about $620 tax payer dollars working this case. Lenderman says this was all because the hog parts were in a container and officers didn't know what it was and needed time to properly identify the contents.
