LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - After an Angelina County Sheriff's deputy arrested a 28-year-old woman on outstanding misdemeanor warrants from the Lufkin Police Department, a search at the jail revealed that she had hidden two small rocks believed to be crack cocaine, a partially smoked marijuana cigarette, and a glass pipe hidden in her pubic area.
Laquita Lashay Ruth, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County jail on a third-degree felony charge of bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility and two misdemeanor traffic charges - failure to stop at a stop line and driving with an expired driver's license. Collectively, the bail for Ruth's misdemeanor charges has been set at $1,000. No bail has been set for the felony charge.
According to the Angelina County Sheriff's Office incident report, an ACSO deputy made a traffic stop on Ruth's vehicle near the intersection of Loop 287 and Atkinson Drive at approximately 10:40 p.m. Sunday.
