LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police officers arrested a 30-year-old man on Monday morning after he was allegedly caught trying to steal a television from a vehicle on Lee Lane.
Darione Ty'Mone Alexander, of Lufkin is still being held in the Angelina County jail on a state-jail felony evading arrest charge and a Class A misdemeanor burglary of a vehicle charge. Although no bail has been set for the evading arrest charge, his bail was set at $1,500 for the burglary of a vehicle charge.
Sgt. Mike Shurley, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department, said a woman who lives on Lee Lane walked out of her house, and saw Alexander trying to steal a TV from her vehicle. When the woman confronted him, Alexander allegedly ran from the scene and hid.
Working on leads from witnesses, the LPD officers were able to track Alexander down. He ran from the when they approached him, but they caught him a short time later.
The evading arrest charge was upgraded to a state-jail felony because Alexander has a previous evading arrest conviction on his record, Shurley said.
