DALLAS, TX - The Dallas Cowboys are looking to bring a historic football player to their program. After being cut from the Rams on Saturday, Michael Sam will go to Dallas for a physical Wednesday.
According to ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter, if Sam's physical goes well, he will be signed to the Cowboys' practice squad.
What makes Sam one of the most historic players, is his goal to become the first openly gay player in the league.
Sam was the 249th overall pick in this year's draft after his collegiate career at Missouri.
In the rookie's preseason with the Rams, he recorded 11 tackles and three sacks. Sam even finished with a team-high of six tackles after Thursday night's preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins.
Sam's waivers were cleared on Sunday and he is now free to sign with any team.
