LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Three small businesses were honored Friday at the Angelina County Chamber's Small Business of the Year awards ceremony.
Standpipe Coffee House, Texas Metal Casting, and Lufkin Coca-Cola all took home awards for exemplifying strong work ethic in the Angelina County Community.
Representatives from all three businesses said they were honored to be given recognition for hard work by their employees.
"I'm the guy that always believes an idea is going to happen so for us is was just, 'Could we last long enough to get the community down?" said Ben Harbuck, the owner of Standpipe.
"It's an honor to all of our employees, but we would not have been here without our founder don smith," said Mark Pope, the president of Texas Metal Casting. He envisioned having a non-ferrous foundry in Lufkin in 1959 and persevered."
"We service Angelina, Polk, and Trinity counties so we are a little far reaching but Lufkin is our home," said Lynne Haney, the president of Lufkin Coca-Cola. "We have partnered with the school districts, non-profit organizations so we hope we are able to make a difference."
