Cause of Morgan Fire Determined

by Donna McCollum

Speculation by investigators about how the Wednesday morning fire started have proven to be correct. An electrical problem is to blame.

The fire began at the loading dock, and it was determined that damage to the ignition source, combined with spilled fuel, caused the spark that led to the blaze. One of the fill pipes and some electrical conduit were found damaged, but it's not known when or how that happened.

Those are just two of the questions officials hope will be answered by the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, state and federal environmental quality agencies are continuing their investigations, and a spokesperson with the EPA says a report will be released in March.
