POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Following a one-vehicle accident in which a car wound up in a drainage ditch Sunday night, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper arrested a 30-year-old Goodrich woman for allegedly driving drunk with her two small children in the car.
Oralia Garcia Reyes was booked into the Polk County Jail on a state-jail felony charge of driving while intoxicated with a child under the age of 15 in the car Sunday. She has since posted her bail and has been released from the jail.
According to a press release, a Livingston DPS trooper responded to a one-vehicle crash on Providence Road west of State Highway 146 in Polk County at approximately 8:15 p.m. Sunday. When the trooper got to the scene, he or she observed a 2010 Chevrolet car with front in damage in the ditch.
Garcia was identified as the driver of the vehicle, and the DPS trooper noticed several bottles of alcohol in the floorboard of the car, along with an open container.
The press release stated that Reyes "had a strong odor of alcohol on or about her person as well as glassy, blood shot eyes." She also allegedly failed a field sobriety test.
The two children, ages five and seven, were released to family members, and Reyes was transported to the Polk County Jail. Her blood alcohol was allegedly more than .08.
