Man seriously injured in one-car wreck in Lufkin

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A man is being flown to an out-of-town hospital following a one-car wreck on the Lufkin loop Thursday evening.

Officer Toby Stanaland said the car was going south on Ellen Trout Drive, near the intersection of MLK Avenue when it hit a tree for an unknown reason, then came to a rest dozens of yards past the tree on the northbound side.

The driver, Robin Liles, 19, of Lufkin, and two other passengers were not injured, but a man was taken to a Lufkin hospital with a head injury, where he will be taken by helicopter to an out-of-town hospital.

Traffic was diverted to one lane on the northbound side.
