(RNN) - The Islamic extremist group ISIS has executed its third captive in less than a month in a video that surfaced Saturday.

British hostage David Haines, 44, who CNN is reporting worked for a Paris-based humanitarian agency, was beheaded on a video posted to a website that is affiliated with the militant group.

He was abducted near a refugee camp in Syria in March 2013.

Through the British Foreign Office, Haines' family pleaded for his life earlier Saturday. Just hours later, his death became public.

"The murder of David Haines is an act of pure evil," British Prime Minister David Cameron wrote on Twitter. "We will do everything in our power to hunt down these murderers and ensure they face justice, however long it takes."

In recent weeks, ISIS posted online videos showing the executions of American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff.

Like the other videos, another hostage was shown after Haines' execution with a promise to execute him.

The next person ISIS has said it will execute was identified as Alan Henning, also a British citizen.
