LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Big dreams are helping to motivate the CEO at SNG Dialysis Center in Lufkin to make sure his center grows to the size he would like.
On Tuesday, a welcome party was hosted at the new center, which is located at 1502 Frank St. The center was originally located at the Chi St. Luke's Health outpatient facility, but about six weeks ago, the center moved to its new location.
SNG Dialysis Center CEO, Dr. Ponniah Sankarapandian, said the old facility had outdated equipment and because of space restrictions it was time to move to a larger facility.
"It was an old building with old equipment and we were happy to build this new center with new equipment," Dr. Sankarapandian said.
The new center has about 64 current patients, but Dr. Sanakarapandian said his dream is to grow even larger.
"We were restricted in the growth at the old unit, so we had only 10 stations and this one has about 24-25 stations, so we have a lot of room to grow and we expect to be about 100 patients in a year or so."
SNG Dialysis Center also has locations in Nacogdoches and San Augustine. The cost to build the new building cost about $1,500,000 of corporate funds.
