Authorities: Nacogdoches woman arrested for punishing children with belt with metal on it

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office arrested a woman Tuesday evening after they said they learned she had disciplined her two children using a belt with metal in it.

Patricia Arias, 33, of Nacogdoches, is charged with two counts of third-degree injury to child.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Circle Park Drive at 6:26 p.m. They reported finding a mother had disciplined her children with a belt with metal on it causing injury.

An arrest affidavit states Arias' 13-year-old daughter had welts and bruising and a small amount of blood on the arm and back and her 12-year-old daughter had welts and bruises on her arm.

According to the affidavit, Arias told deputies she disciplined the 13-year-old for disobeying her about leaving school without permission and not obeying the rules.
