LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

In June the Angelina County Jail started accepting bids for a new healthcare provider for the facility.

This week medical staff with Southern Health Partners out of Chattanooga, Tennessee reported for duty.

The nurses and physicians say they are happy to be the health care provider for Angelina County.

The staff will provide all the patient care to the inmates housed in the jail.

“We'll be providing all the nursing care,” said Krystal Souders, a jail health provider. “All labs, X-rays, all the staffing, physicians those kinds of things whatever is involved with patient care with the inmates.”

Southern Health Partners secured the contract after the Angelina County Health District decided to not submit a new bid to provide services at the jail any longer.
