LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Members of the America Legion Post 113 and the VFW Post #1836 paid a special tribute to those soldiers who became Prisoners of War (POW) and are still Missing in Action (MIA). On Friday, the members hosted a remembrance ceremony of those that we have lost and honored several Lufkin soldiers who were POW.

It was a somber affair, one with hope for those families who have lost a loved one, and gratitude for those who continue to see their loved ones despite fearing they may never make it home.

Members of the community, including State Representative Trent Ashby, Mayor Bob Brown, and Angelina County Sheriff Greg Sanches were in attendance. In honor of those who were lost, a empty table at the front of the room was used to symbolize the "brothers" that were lost.

The Community Food Drive in Lufkin is special to some because of the large amount of people it brings together from all walks of life.  "It's just like so many different people, very diverse," said volunteer, Priscilla Gonzalez. "It's just kind of cool to see all these people coming together to do one thing."
